The Origin Story

Marquevue was born on the streets of Nairobi.

Not in a boardroom. Not in a pitch deck. In Eastleigh and Kilimani, where East Africa's most talented modest lifestyle brands operate — scattered across streets, stalls and social media pages — invisible to the consumers who are desperately looking for them.

Our founder Marjan Hussein lived that frustration firsthand. As a modest fashion consumer in Nairobi she spent her Saturdays hunting across the city for pieces she loved. As an AI and Machine Learning Engineer she saw the structural failure clearly — not just a shopping inconvenience but a broken market that was costing brands their growth and consumers their time.

So she built the solution. From the ground up. Alone. In Nairobi.

The modest lifestyle market is one of the fastest growing consumer segments in the world — 1.8 billion consumers globally, a market valued at over $277 billion and accelerating.
